LVU Receives Eight Lehigh Valley Music Awards Nominations
Lehigh Valley Underground is excited to announce that it has received a total of eight Lehigh Valley Music Awards nominations in recognition of its work to raise awareness of the local music scene in eastern Pennsylvania, western New Jersey, and beyond.
The nomination process took place in early November, and allowed local musicians, industry representatives, and fans to select candidates on two separate ballots: a Fan Vote ballot, which is open locally to the general public, and an Industry Vote ballot, where voting privileges are exclusive to those who make active contributions to the local music scene throughout the year. Lehigh Valley Underground was nominated in four categories on each ballot.
As an organization, Lehigh Valley Underground was nominated on the Fan Vote ballot in the Outstanding Music Website of 2016 category for LehighValleyUnderground.com, the central resource for all things LVU. Lehigh Valley Underground also received an Industry Vote nomination in the Outstanding Music Supporter (Organization) of 2016 category.
Individually, LVU Founder/Editor-in-Chief Gerard Longo received a total of five nominations. In Industry Vote categories, Longo was nominated in the Outstanding Music Supporter (Individual) of 2016; Outstanding Music Reviewer of 2016; and Outstanding Music Photographer of 2016 categories. On the Fan Vote ballot, Longo captured a nomination for Outstanding Volunteer of 2016, as well as for Outstanding Internet/Cable Broadcast Personality of 2016, in recognition of his work as host of The Quinn Spinn, the Official Podcast of Lehigh Valley Underground.
“2016 has been an amazing first year for Lehigh Valley Underground; one during which we have uncovered great talent, learned inspiring stories, and met outstanding people, every single day,” Longo said. “To receive eight nominations for our support of the Valley’s music scene is a tremendous honor, and a testament to the mission, values, and passion that drive our organization toward building a more vibrant and engaged music community for all.”
The Quinn Spinn, a former stand-alone podcast that found a home on Lehigh Valley Underground in 2016, also received a Fan Vote nomination for Outstanding Internet/Cable Broadcast of 2016.
“In 2013, The Quinn Spinn was my introduction to local music,” Longo noted. “The show began as a just-for-fun outlet, but I have consistently fallen in love with the variety of independent music we’ve featured over the years. The Quinn Spinn has remained committed to supporting independent art, and I am ecstatic to see that effort recognized at the local level.”
Voting for the Lehigh Valley Music Awards is open now through Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
