You probably don’t even need another reason to attend The Benefit for Scott Marshall at Maingate Nightclub on Sunday, February 19, but we’re about to give you one anyway…
The popular singer-songwriter has teamed with fellow local musicians Larry Werner, Harry McGonigal, Michael Fritz, Robbie Bossert, Bill Lance, Michael Stanley, Raymond Shirk, and Robert Singley to form The Band of Survivors, a nine-piece ensemble exclusively featuring members who are also cancer survivors. The group has recorded a CD to be made available at the Feb. 19 benefit, with all proceeds from record sales going to benefit the pediatric cancer units at local children’s hospitals.
“We strategically managed to come together over the last four weeks to record three songs I wrote in support of each other, those who need support in it’s various forms, and to help children with cancer,” Marshall said in a Facebook post dated January 29. “Although I’m still enduring health issues and various trials and tribulations, what a pleasure it was working and collaborating with these fantastic musicians to create something truly inspiring and special!”
In addition to The Band of Survivors, those in attendance will also hear The Cherrybombs, Girl Crue, Social Call, James Supra, and The Aardvarks. Tickets are available here.
