We’re going to break, for just a moment, from covering the local artists to our scene and turn our attention to the Musikfest Sands Steel Stage. Despite being six months away, the 10 coveted main stage slots are already filling up.
By this point, guitar legend Santana has been announced for opening night (Aug. 4), with Toby Keith (Aug. 10), The Band Perry (Aug. 11), The American Made Tour with Lee Brice & Justin Moore (Aug. 12), and Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson (Aug. 13) also announced.
That’s five – count ‘em – five Steel Stage shows announced to this point. But, there are ten nights of Musikfest.
Who should fill out the other nights? Personally, I’ve always said The Killers would make for a, um, *killer* show at Musikfest. The bright sounds of a song like “Spaceman,” coupled with their light show up against the backdrop of the Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces, would make for a downright magical moment. I would also love to cross Incubus off my bucket list, right in my own backyard. However, I’ve seen their touring schedule for 2017, and I think they’re out west around that time. A Musikfest appearance is probably unlikely for the Calabasas boys this year.
It doesn’t matter what I think, though. I want to hear from you. So, let’s play a game for a moment, and pretend you had the power to book the remaining five shows. Which artists would you enlist to fill out the Steel Stage lineup? Let us know in the comments!
