On Saturday night, Mardi Gras came to Bethlehem.
Jakopa’s Punch, a collective of musicians who are tied to South Bethlehem’s Touchstone Theatre from varying backgrounds, were joined by The Bastard Sons of Burt Sugarman (Mike Roi, Carter Lansing, and Jason Hedrington) and The Charts Funk Band from Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts for the Jakopa’s Punch Bowl, a New Orleans-themed fundraiser complete with King Cake, jambalaya, and good fun.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit The Jakopa’s Punch Processional, which will feature the band taking to the South Bethlehem Greenway on July 14-15 to perform, before making a habit out of it during First Fridays this fall in Bethlehem.
Those in attendance on Saturday night were treated to the crafty songwriting of The Bastard Sons first, before being bedazzled by the eclectic tunes of Jakopa’s Punch, and later blown away by the talent and youthful exuberance of The Charts, who were joined by LVU’s good friend, Julia Sommer.
