The second stop on our Folkin’ Good Saturday Night (we just came up with that name now — wish we would’ve done it sooner!) saw us head back to Bethlehem to Easton to once again enjoy a show at the legendary Godfrey Daniels. On this night, we had the privilege of taking in a performance from Dina Hall Band.
Before Dina and her crew — Andy Killcoyne, Nick Franclik, and Josh Knusky — took the stage, we were treated to a captivating opening set from singer-songwriter Rameen John Shayegan. Rameen’s intricate guitar work and clean folk vocal were accented by a dash of humor in his storytelling. At the end of his set, he was joined onstage by Killcoyne to leave a lasting impression by way of some expert instrumental layering.
Shortly thereafter, it was time for Hall and her band to take the stage. In addition to seamless covers from some of folk’s all-time greats — from Bob Dylan to Utah Phillips — Hall and her band provided the capacity audience at Godfrey Daniels with songs and stories from her own catalog, including her newest release, “Logic and the Heart.” All of Hall’s selections were made enjoyable by the singer-songwriter’s soulful alto and Killcoyne’s guitar mastery, both of which were supported by the tight rhythms of Franclik and Knusky.
To close the night, Shayegan was invited back to the stage to join the band, who teamed up to send the crowd home happy.
