Every year, the Lehigh Valley Music Awards names a Community Youth Recipient to be honored at its annual ceremony. This portion of the afternoon highlights a local child with a medical condition, in order to bring support and awareness to their cause.
This year, the Community Youth Recipient will rock!
On Sunday, Carly Lenett will be named Lehigh Valley Music Awards 18 Community Youth Recipient. Carly, a Type 1 diabetic, is the inspiration behind the Team Carly Rocks Foundation, which builds diabetes awareness in the hope of one day eradicating the disease.
The Foundation “fights diabetes through fitness,” most notably during its flagship event, ‘Swim For a Cure.’ The swim-a-thon style event, founded by Carly’s father, Mitch, has raised more than $100,000 for diabetes research to date and has featured appearances by Olympic medalist Kristy Kowal in each of the past three years.
You can learn more about Carly’s story and the Team Carly Rocks Foundation at its official website. And, of course, we encourage you to get your tickets for the 18th Annual Lehigh Valley Music Awards, beginning this Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Lehigh Valley Underground Preshow inside the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.
