Allentown JazzFest Night 4: Day at the Museum, Part 2

After our brief photo editing/Starbucks break, Allentown JazzFest rolled on into the evening at Allentown Art Museum on Saturday with a pair of renowned, world-class jazzmen.

We returned to the museum to join Andy Milne’s set, and witnessed the pianist and composer’s pure piano mastery in action. JazzFest was his blank canvas, and he painted it with freeform improvisation on his own compositions as well as other favorite selections, including a unique take on the Stephen Stills classic, “Love the One You’re With.”

After that, it was time to head downstairs for the museum’s main event for the evening. Grammy winner Jeff “Tain” Watts, the well-traveled Berklee grad who has performed alongside luminaries Wynton and Bradford Marsalis, George Benson, and Harry Connick Jr., brought his Trio along to give us 90-minutes of genre-busting jazz and blues.

It’s not over yet! We have Dave Liebman and the Moravian College Big Band still to come at Zion “Liberty Bell” UCC Church at 3 p.m. today in Allentown. Stay tuned here and on Facebook for updates!
