Founder’s Picks: Five Can’t-Miss Levitt Pavilion Shows

It’s the start of the most wonderful time of the year! Of course, we mean summer, but we also mean the start of the Levitt Pavilion season at SteelStacks.

ArtsQuest recently announced the full 2017 Levitt Pavilion lineup to the world. This year’s lineup includes headline acts including Steve Kimock, The Coasters, and The Platters, among a host of other locally, regionally, and nationally-renowned musicians.

In looking at the full lineup, we went through and picked out five selections – Can’t-Miss Shows of the Season, perhaps? – that we’re excited about.

GLVMA Winners Preview Weekend (Fri.-Sat., May 19-20)
We already told you about this one. Jacqui Armbruster opens for Brian Dean Moore Band on Friday, and Julia Sommer leads into a set from Dana Gaynor Band on Saturday. All four artists are 2017 Lehigh Valley Music Awards winners, giving you at least four good reasons to camp out all weekend.

Sweet Little Bloodhound (Sun., Jun. 11)
Despite hailing from Brooklyn, this seven-piece soulful rock band has a smooth Southern edge, with three powerhouse female vocalists taking the lead. They’ll be the main attraction following the “Strut Your Mutt” charity fundraiser at Levitt, and their sounds are sure to make for a good time.

Jakubi (Sun., Jun. 25)
In researching this year’s Levitt performers, we immediately fell in love with Jakubi’s sound. Blurring the lines between pop, hip hop, and reggae, there’s plenty to enjoy across a wide audience when they take the stage for a Sunday special.

Ceramic Animal (Sat., July 8)
We had the pleasure of sneaking in a few songs from this Philly indie rock quartet during the Southside Arts & Music Festival a few weeks back, and we look forward to an encore. Ceramic Animal is polished both sonically and visually, and big things seem to be on the horizon for these guys!

Black Violin (Sat., Aug. 25)
It seems that we’re never too far away from another epic Black Violin performance at SteelStacks – and that’s good for everyone involved! If you haven’t heard this group’s unique blend of classical and hip hop, you haven’t lived.
