By Saturday evening, the weather in Bethlehem had cooled off significantly from its July-esque levels on Friday. However, that didn’t stop the Greater Lehigh Valley Music Association from hosting its second night of Lehigh Valley Music Awards Winners Preview Weekend on the Levitt Pavilion stage at SteelStacks.
The night was headlined on the Levitt stage by Dana Gaynor Band, with highly-touted 17-year-old singer-songwriter Julia Sommer in the opening slot. Sommer, a Charter Arts student and winner of the Discover Lehigh Valley Discover New Artist award, made the most of a perfect platform to impress hundreds with her clean guitar work and powerhouse vocals.
Julia’s strong performance set the tone for Gaynor, whose band delivered great energy and technical precision for the length of its set. Gaynor’s brand of blues rock had people dancing all night, from the beginning to the end, and left the people in attendance with a great appreciation for a stellar night of music.
