Thursday night presented a unique edition of SteelStacks Open Mic, presented by Billy Bauer. The weekly series served as the platform for the release of singer-songwriter Kara Hartzell’s debut EP, “When I’m Home.”
Under the dim glow of the ArtsQuest Center’s orange, Oktoberfest-themed lights, Hartzell shared four original songs and their accompanying stories — including a non-EP track, “On the Horizon” — and was joined by collaborators Pentley Holmes, who lends vocals and guitar on “The Storm,” and Evan Miklosey, whose finger-picking style lends the instrumental to standout track, “Entrophy.”
Other performers to grace Thursday’s Open Mic included Bauer, Holmes, Garrett Powell, Neil Grover, George Young, and Gabriel Francis. Photos are below.
