On Friday evening, January 5, Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem had the opportunity to hear renowned guitarist Craig Thatcher perform the music of Jimi Hendrix along with bandmates Wayde Leonard and Don Plowman.
With the crowd hanging on every note, Thatcher ripped through some classic tunes on the guitar as Leonard threw in some great bass lines and vocals throughout the evening. With Hendrix’s extensive catalog, the trio paid homage to the lefty guitar-playing, bandana-wearing legend with tunes like “Fire,” along with the Bob Dylan number, “All Along The Watchtower”. Plowman kept the beat going, with his drumming on “Castles Made Of Sand,” “Come On (Let The Good Times Roll),” and “Power Of Soul”.
It is always great to see fans of all ages sing along to Hendrix. Thatcher had the crowd singing along to timeless songs, “Purple Haze” and “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return).”
It’s difficult to do justice to such a legend but, last Friday evening at Musikfest Cafe, Craig Thatcher’s trio proved that Jimi Hendrix’s music is alive and well in 2018.
