Come Together 2018: A Lineup Change, and Reservations are Open!

Come Together 2018

Hey, everybody. My name is Michael Duck, I am Not For Coltrane, and I have some new information about our Come Together benefit show coming up on April 28. As we announced last month here on Lehigh Valley Underground, this is a show at Godfrey Daniels benefiting No Place for Hate — a program in schools across the region, the state, and the country that aims to help kids learn how to relate to each other.

Not For Coltrane (Michael Duck) and Bakithi Kumalo, with his amazing hat.

First, some… long-term good news: Our friend Bakithi Kumalo, who plays bass for Paul Simon, hopes to be part of our Come Together show in 2019!

Unfortunately, Bakithi has had to bow out of our show next month. Soon after we announced that he’d be part of our April show, Paul’s people called Bakithi to let him know the rehearsal schedule for Paul’s upcoming tour had changed. We hoped to work something out over the last few weeks, but we couldn’t quite make it happen. Still, I’m extremely grateful for Bakithi’s support and eagerness to help — and already excited for next year.

In the meantime, you can act now to reserve your space at the show! Godfrey Daniels has just made reservations available from the show’s page at godfreydaniels.org. Admission for the 8 p.m. show on April 28 will be $18 per adult, and it’s free for students. You’ll get to see an all-star lineup of local performers including Pentley Holmes, Dave Fry, Dina Hall, John Huie (of the Northeast Middle School World Percussion Ensemble), Alyssa Allen (of Soul Folks), and me — and you’ll be supporting a program that aims to help reduce bullying, increase respect, and challenge anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry in all its forms.

Thanks so much to all the performers, Godfrey’s, LVU, and the SouthSide Arts District for helping to put this all together. Please check out the Godfrey Daniels website to reserve your seats, and look for more information here on Lehigh Valley Underground in the coming weeks.
