Musikfest Five-Point Preview: Aug. 3, 2018

Folks… it’s time.

The 35th edition of Musikfest (officially) kicks off tonight in Bethlehem, and we are as ready as we’re going to be! Rain or shine, Christmas City is sure to be jumping tonight between opening night of the nation’s largest free outdoor music festival and plenty of other fantastic musical adventures within Bethlehem’s city limits (ahem, #LVUFirstFriday).

As is customary, we’ll be giving you five – count ‘em – five free stage performances that you should visit in your travels throughout each day of the festival. So, if you’re opting to head to Musikfest tonight, here’s the evening’s…

Funky Dawgz Brass Band
Where: Americaplatz at Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, South Side
Time: 7 p.m.
What you’ll hear: Jazz, funk, hip hop, and more, rooted in New Orleans tradition and ready to blow you away.

Flowers For Taco
Where: Festplatz, North Side
Time: 8:30 p.m.
What you’ll hear: Today’s top hits, cleverly weaved together in a live show that is equal parts energetic and entertaining.

Scott Marshall & Marshall’s Highway
Where: Red Stag Pub Liederplatz, North Side
Time: 9 p.m.
What you’ll hear: Rockin’ country, or is it country rock? Either way, it’s one of the Valley’s most well-known original acts.

Slingshot Dakota
Where: Plaza Tropical, North Side
Time: 10 p.m.
What you’ll hear: Impassioned, fuzzy, and raw indie pop from a pair of hometown heroes.
