The People of The Underground

Gerard Longo’s first foray into the music industry was in 2013 as the founder and host of The Quinn Spinn, a podcast-turned-internet radio show with a special focus on highlighting, interviewing, and showcasing the work of independent musicians around the world. During this run, The Quinn Spinn featured 87 regular episodes, plus more than 50 episodes of its “Music Showcase” edition, created to provide additional airplay opportunities for artists. The Quinn Spinn also participated in its local music community in northern and central New Jersey, providing interview opportunities at the 2014 Jersey Shore Festival in Seaside Heights, and hosting Entertainment For A Cure, an all-day American Cancer Society benefit at Camp Jefferson in June 2014.

In mid-2015, Gerard re-located to the Lehigh Valley and took a break from The Quinn Spinn to localize his music support efforts. The result was the creation of Lehigh Valley Underground – an online publication dedicated to serve the music scene in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey – which launched in January 2016. To this day, Lehigh Valley Underground has published well in excess of 1,000 pieces of online content at LehighValleyUnderground.com; boasts a robust and growing social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter; and features its own 24/7 internet radio station, WLVU: The Sound of The Underground.

In addition, Gerard’s leadership of Lehigh Valley Underground has guided the organization to produce several large-scale community events. These include the Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series, presented monthly in South Bethlehem in partnership with SouthSide Arts District and Banko Beverage Co., as well as a collaboration with ArtsQuest to provide a free stage component featuring local performers to the 2018 SouthSide Arts and Music Festival in Bethlehem.

Gerard graduated from Moravian College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Graphic Design. He currently resides in Bethlehem. In addition to his continued leadership of Lehigh Valley Underground, Gerard owns and operates GTL Communications, a digital and content marketing firm serving regional clients.
