Earlier this month, we announced that Billy Bauer Band and Acoustic Kitty Project would be teaming up to take the Godfrey Daniels stage during the next installment of the Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series on Friday, October 6.
In my first venture back out onto the scene since Sunday’s Musikfest finale, I found myself back on familiar ground, as I headed down to SteelStacks for Billy Bauer’s weekly open mic on Thursday night.
Over the next two weeks, potentially more than one million visitors to Bethlehem will have the opportunity to get their hands on a plastic mug featuring the artwork of local mixed medium artist Bobby Zeik, a Banana Factory resident artist and the man behind the 2017 Musikfest poster.
In addition to chatting with Musikfest rookies to get their thoughts on performing for the first time at the nation’s largest free outdoor music festival, we also wanted to catch up with those who have been there — whether as attendees, performers, or both.
Nick Capozzolo, bassist for Nazareth-based harmonic soul band, The Moondogs, has performed three times at previous Musikfests, and was one of the first to offer his thoughts on what the experience means to him.
After months of preparation (which included a spirited fundraiser along the way), Jakopa’s Punch is venturing outside of Touchstone Theatre’s confines this weekend with a performance that promises something for everyone.
Thursday night, participants in Billy Bauer’s SteelStacks Open Mic had quite an audience, as patrons of the night’s Levitt Pavilion show hung around outside the campus’ TD Bank stage to hear up-and-comers show what they were made of.
Excuse us if we seem a little pre-occupied this week. It’s just that we’re hosting this epic two-day festival at American Spirits Roadhouse this weekend with 15 – count ‘em – 15 incredible local and regional acts, and we’re pretty certain that it’s going to be the place to be all weekend long.
But… there’s other wonderful stuff happening around here this week, and it is our proud honor and privilege to tell you about it. Here we go, into a fresh batch of…
Can’t-Miss Shows of the Week!
By Saturday evening, the weather in Bethlehem had cooled off significantly from its July-esque levels on Friday. However, that didn’t stop the Greater Lehigh Valley Music Association from hosting its second night of Lehigh Valley Music Awards Winners Preview Weekend on the Levitt Pavilion stage at SteelStacks.
A rainy Saturday in Bethlehem set a mellow mood that was perfect to accompany the stellar acoustic sounds of Soul Folks at SteelStacks.
It’s the start of the most wonderful time of the year! Of course, we mean summer, but we also mean the start of the Levitt Pavilion season at SteelStacks.
ArtsQuest recently announced the full 2017 Levitt Pavilion lineup to the world. This year’s lineup includes headline acts including Steve Kimock, The Coasters, and The Platters, among a host of other locally, regionally, and nationally-renowned musicians.
In looking at the full lineup, we went through and picked out five selections – Can’t-Miss Shows of the Season, perhaps? – that we’re excited about.
