I had the opportunity to see a ton of great performances by incredible talent at Launch Music Conference in Lancaster last weekend. However, the one that I keep coming back to is The Stonewall Vessels’ performance at Binn’s Park during the Fest Friday portion of the weekend.
Fest Friday continued into the night at Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, and believe me when I say: I’m glad I stuck around. There was some insane talent still to come as the sun set.
After a day jam packed with valuable education from a bevy of music industry professionals, it came time to party on a beautiful Friday evening in Lancaster, PA.

I got into the car immediately after work in Bethlehem on Thursday and made a beeline to Lititz, about 15 minutes north of downtown Lancaster, which is playing host to the Ninth Annual Launch Music Conference and Festival. Spring came on strong in a big way this week in our region, making this the absolute perfect time to step out and go on a Lehigh Valley Underground Road Trip.

The Ninth Annual Launch Music Conference & Festival hits downtown Lancaster from April 13-16, and a handful of Lehigh Valley artists are on the bill and looking to make an impression on their regional colleagues and the music industry professionals who will be in attendance.

Lancaster’s The Gone pay homage to so many of rock’s titans, past and present. Whether coming in with a hook that is reminiscent of Stone Temple Pilots, or playing a melody that recalls the Foo Fighters, their influences have a clear and defined presence in the band’s sound.
That’s what makes the band’s self-titled album so exciting.
Right away, a listener will notice the band’s influences shining through a thin, but ever-present layer of punk sensibility. They play loud and with purpose, offering ten energetic pieces of music. A track like “Scapegoat,” a true headbanger, can set the tone for an entire live set, while “So” is punk with a dash of grunge that would light up CBGB in its heyday.
The album’s closing track, “Worlds End,” is perhaps the album’s highlight. The track features blistering guitar work and gunshot sound effects that make its texture as chaotic as its title suggests. For sure, The Gone should employ “Worlds End” at the conclusion of each of its sets. I can’t imagine a better way to leave each night with a bang.
