In addition to good vibes and a healthy exchange of ideas, Thursday night at The Originals Music Series’ Lehigh Valley Musicians Social featured a stellar lineup of musicians.
The night kicked off with Scott Marshall & Marshall’s Highway, who delivered yet another signature performance of rock, country, blues and everything in between. They were followed by Valdez, a talented foursome from Philly, and Pinnacle, who capped off the evening with their first performance since 2014. Each band shared a distinctive sound all its own with those in attendance, making this a showcase to remember.
We have some great photos compiled by LVU contributor Lisa Robinson, who did a fantastic job filling in behind the camera while I manned our table. Take a look!
As I write this, it’s after midnight. I have to work in the morning, but I don’t feel like going to bed quite yet.
That’s because I’m pumped right now. Nights like tonight are why Lehigh Valley Underground exists, and I’m compelled to jump on here and tell you about it.
Tonight was the Second Annual Lehigh Valley Musicians’ Social, presented at The Originals Music Series by the Fyre & Ice Show. The night served as a good snapshot of the current state of our music scene – that is to say, folks from all walks of life, and from varying levels of influence, coming together to exchange ideas and support local, original music. There are so many people on our music scene who are beginning to join forces and tap even more into the Lehigh Valley’s boundless potential as an arts destination. With every night like tonight, we get closer to making that a reality.
For me, being able to chat with some of the musicians, supporters, and advocates who make our scene go gives me great hope toward the future of both Lehigh Valley Underground and our region’s culture at large. Before my eyes, I’m watching the scene evolve from smaller pockets to a bigger, more cooperative brother-and-sisterhood. Our scene has plenty of unifiers; people who truly want to make a difference and change the landscape of this area for the better. To go with that, we also have a bevy of ideas in our arsenal to make that happen.
Let’s not stop now, guys. Let’s continue to dedicate our time and talents toward the benefit of not only our music community, but the greater Lehigh Valley community at large.
We have great power within what we create. Let’s keep the party going.
With the unofficial start of summer just days away, the music scene here in the Lehigh Valley (and anywhere else with a music scene) is making like the temperature and heating up. We’re lucky enough to live in a place where, virtually any night of the week, you can find great live music from local talent.
There is always much to look forward to in the prime time of the year, but we want to know: Which shows in particular have caught your eye?
Perhaps you’re looking forward to your favorite Musikfest headliner. Or, if you’re like us, you want to show the love to our local artists, who keep this scene going year-round. Whatever your tastes, there’s bound to be something for everybody — and we want to know what dates are on your radar!
A couple that are upcoming for us? Well, in addition to our Can’t-Miss Shows of the Week (hello, Mayfair), we’re really looking forward to Slingshot Dakota’s Hometown Record Release Show at SteelStacks on Friday, June 10. Also, we can’t wait to mix it up with Scott Marshall, Pinnacle, Valdez and a host of other local music folks at The Originals Music Series’ Musicians Social on Thursday, June 16. LVU plans to be in attendance for both of those — and many more!
It’s your turn to tell us. What’s most exciting to you as a local music lover?
For those looking to involve themselves more in the Valley’s music scene, The Originals Music Series has an idea: attend their Second Annual Lehigh Valley Musicians’ Social on Thursday, June 16 at Chicago Restaurant’s Club Gravity.
Musicians and industry professionals are invited to come to the event, meet other like-minded individuals, and set up merch and information tables. The fun night of networking will be highlighted by performances from Scott Marshall, Pinnacle and Valdez.
This special night will run from 7-11 p.m., giving those on the scene an extra hour to meet up and learn about more of the talent populating the Lehigh Valley.
