Lehigh Valley Underground is excited to announce a June 1, 2017 launch date for WLVU, Lehigh Valley Underground’s own internet radio station.
The announcement was first made on the Monday, May 1, 2017 episode of The Quinn Spinn, the Official Podcast of Lehigh Valley Underground. WLVU comes on the heels of a strategic partnership formed by Lehigh Valley Underground and John Paul DeBard, station director of WSCI: Star City Indie Rock Radio in Bethlehem. The partnership will see WSCI rebranded as WLVU, which will retain DeBard as station director. The rebranded station will highlight music from any genre, with emphasis placed on artists from the Greater Lehigh Valley region.
“Lehigh Valley Underground is committed to supporting local music in any way possible. WLVU gives Lehigh Valley Underground a powerful asset to provide airplay opportunities to independent artists on a consistent basis,” said Gerard Longo, Founder/Editor-in-Chief of Lehigh Valley Underground. “Powered by the WSCI radio engine, WLVU has the opportunity to revolutionize the way people consume independent music in our region and beyond.”
WLVU is currently seeking music submissions from independent artists for inclusion into the station’s rotation. Additionally, WLVU invites artists to submit interview requests, and welcomes aspiring radio DJs to inquire about having their programs featured on WLVU.
“WSCI and Lehigh Valley Underground both support Indie Artists; one through sound and one through print,” said John Paul DeBard, Station Director of WLVU. “I believe this ‘not-so-hostile takeover’ will enable us to better serve this incredibly diverse music scene.”
WLVU will also feature a live, hour-long incarnation of The Quinn Spinn, which will begin airing Monday, June 5 at 7 p.m. The Balcony Show, a widely-syndicated internet radio show featuring hosts Ann Thatcher and Andrew Chervak, will maintain its WSCI timeslot on Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
